Our Mission
Our mission is to offer a differentiated educational experience for all children in an inclusive environment that welcomes and systemically accommodates neurodiversity, to enhance social and emotional development.
As secular homeschoolers, we recognize the importance of an education that emphasizes critical thinking and evidence-based understanding, and we practice a mixture of homeschooling philosophies. We use a multisensory learning approach and encourage peer interaction and communication through play. Our academics place a strong focus on encouraging social skills, emotional regulation techniques, life skills training, and sensory exploration while passively integrating basic core subjects.
All brains are wired differently in terms of information processing, communication, and sensory processing, so our goal is to create an environment that considers these differences in cognitive processing. Our weekly learning sessions offer a smaller group size, predictable routines, environmental modifications, sensory breaks and tools, visuals and manipulatives, clear and concise educational material, and learning opportunities in varying settings.
Our Story
We are the Cole family and we live in Peaceful Valley, WA. I created Neuroinclusive Homeschool Collaborative, because I want to provide a safe space to nurture our son, Benjamin’s academic journey and also build a strong support system for other like-minded homeschoolers in our county. All children benefit from connection, socialization, accountability, and team-building and I believe it is so important for neurodivergent children to feel accommodated and accepted in their learning environment. All kids should be able to stim freely and be their authentic self, without feeling the need to mask to avoid ridicule. I also believe it is imperative for us to teach neurotypical children (and adults!) how to be kind and accepting of others who may behave differently. I hope this co-op community will also provide a safe space for caregivers to share their stories, gain insight, and receive emotional support from other families who are in the same boat.
Benjamin is autistic with PDA, dyspraxia, ARFID, sensory processing difficulties, and mixed receptive-expressive language disorder. He is also hyperlexic, humorous, kind and super socially motivated. With Benjamin’s unique learning style and behavioral differences, we decided public school is not a good fit for us.
As a family, we enjoy traveling and new experiences. Benjamin enjoys astronomy, math, Spanish, and geography. In my spare time I enjoy reading, crocheting, gardening, puzzles, drinking tea, and watching the hummingbirds outside my window. We are so so happy to meet you.
